Leading as a Corporate Attorney
Nancy’s career has been defined by her passion for problem-solving, collaboration, and corporate responsibility. Nancy began her career as a corporate lawyer. She built new legal departments for three separate businesses, including Williams-Sonoma, where she was Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of the NYSE company that had never had an in-house lawyer.
Bridging Disciplines
Nancy founded Himmelfarb Sustainability Consulting to do more to advance corporate responsibility and impact. As a consultant, she leans into her legal expertise and also leverages extensive business, sustainability/ESG and nonprofit expertise to address the full spectrum of opportunities, risks, and stakeholder voices. With an interdisciplinary approach, Nancy fully supports clients’ aspirations to grow and do good work.
Championing Sustainability
While at Williams-Sonoma, Nancy started a grassroots sustainability program. She recruited and empowered employee champions across the business with the motto, “Helping our Business by Helping the Environment.” Employees and executives embraced Nancy’s “Greening Our Home” program, and it catalyzed Williams-Sonoma’s future sustainability commitments and impact.
